According to Evolis, the environmental impact of a PLA/wood card is 42% lower than that of a PVC card. They are made from bio-based, partially recycled materials: polylactic acid or polylactide (PLA) is a sustainable replacement for plastic made from renewable, bio-based resources such as corn or sugar cane. PLA is not derived from petroleum and does not contain any toxins. Wood fibers are by-products of the industrial processing of PEFC-certified wood from sustainably managed forests.
