04/Apr/2019
In the tracking industry (barcode or RFID), a lot of customer or user is trying to mix up the inventory tracking and asset tracking system. Theoretically you can mix both of them together but practically you are not advisable to do so. Tracking action is a look simple action but it actual case it needs a lot of patience, time, consistency and skill to achieve a good result. That's why a lot of company finally give up in implementing the asset tracking for all their company asset and just leave the asset grow and die by itself without tracking.

Even the tracking is not a simple task but most of the company is still able to manage the inventory tracking either manual or semi computerised way with some issue daily but it still will need to be run in order for the business operation to be continuous.

Some company is trying to mix the asset and inventory together end up fail also because inventory involve daily transaction but asset tracking is not a very critical mission for an organisation. Mixing up this 2 different purpose application will end up cause wastage of staff resources and reduce productivity. Due to both tracking serving different objective, end of the day reporting for this two action also will give unwanted result for the management and cause fail in the tracking purpose.

Conclusion:
Asset tracking is used for tracking your company table, chair, electronics devices, motor vehicles, computer and tablet devices.
Inventory tracking is used for tracking your company selling product, production raw material, production finish material, consumable items.
